microfictionmonday[3]

Write a story in 140 characters using the picture she provides as inspiration.

Her picture this week: girlsnavyposter
My story:
Don't ask, don't tell has worked out well for Mary. About to retire after twenty-five years of duty in the Navy, no one knew she was a she.

I have been looking for a Meme to do on Tuesdays. Not being able to find one I like, I made one up. I call it "Tales on Tuesday."

The idea is to tell a short, short (500 words or less) story based on the week's theme. To provide us inspiration, each theme will be the title of a TV show.

Your story does not have to have anything in common with the TV show.

If you want to play, the theme for Tuesday, March 23, 2010, will be "Lost In Space."
The theme for Tuesday, March 30, 2010, will be "Dark Shadows."
Thom's suggestion for the theme Tuesday, April 6, 2010, is "Golden Girls."
If you would like to suggest a theme, mention it when you comment.

  12. There's a lot of truth in your story. Women have had to resort to tricks like this too often.

  17. Hi its still me from random short stories but having starting to do more 140 and less character bits I decided to set up this site Random Twitter Stories. refreshing/recycling some old twitter stories to get it going. Anyway back to yours... Oh that reminded me of Self Made Man - My year Disguised as a Man by Norah Vincent. It gives a largely sympathetic view of what men are like when not around women

  18. Now there's a well-deserved pension for Mary! I'm glad that policy worked for someone anyhow LOL

The new meme sounds like a lot of fun -- I don't know where I'd find time but you've got me wanting to make time so, will give it a go!
