Flash 55 - The Monster

A ravaging beast full of sharp claws and pointed teeth ripped through my straining muscles to gnaw on my bones, sucking marrow between black swollen lips while injecting venom into my blood stream to works its way into my brain overwhelming me with aching pain, misery and sadness. I’ve had a rough week at work.

Flash 55 - If Memory Serves

it’s been a while since I’ve written in double fives
and I find myself breaking out in hives
do I remember how to do it
is it like riding a bike
I have to make my thoughts fit
like a finger in a dike
and say something that doesn’t stink like chives
hoping everyone survives

Thursday 13 – Don’t Hate Me Because I’m Weird

1. I made my first batch of mead on Sunday. Here are the instructions. It’s fermenting nicely. Homemade mead is 11 - 16 % alcohol. Each gallon cost $12.62 to make including the balloons.

2. My favorite flower is the spider mum.

3. I wear my wedding ring on my right hand. It feels most comfortable there. No one has ever noticed.

4. I never changed my name when I got married. My husband doesn’t care but his mother does.

5. I can't wait for Game of Thrones to start on HBO. I read the books so I hope I am not disappointed in the HBO show.

6. I can't wait for Camelot to start on starz. It looks really good, too.

7. I can't stand when people do fake cursing, like Sarah Palin. How is it better to say fudge instead of fuck if the intention is the same? Everyone knows what you mean so not only are you cursing which is supposedly against your beliefs but you are also trying to be purposely deceptive.

8. I quit a 2 pack a day smoking habit over 25 years ago but there are still days I would like to start again.

9. I started meditating again. It has really highlighted how busy my mind is. I am hardly ever in the moment. I spend most of my time in the future.

10. My guardian angel's name is Franc. He likes it spelled with a "c." He says it makes it seem European.

11. My reading glasses are clouded with fingerprints.

12. My favorite book of all time is The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley but I've never been able to read any of her other books.

13. I refuse to eat cooked celery, mushrooms and cabbage. I will eat them raw, though.

One Shot Wednesday - Selfish

I selfishly prayed for my brother’s return, unabashedly asking God to take care of him, not to the exclusion of others (after all, God is perfectly capable of multi-tasking) but selfish because I don’t think I could take it and then the others pushed into my consciousness and the emotions log-jammed in my throat, tears burning my eyes, blood rushing to my cheeks – how will these poor people deal with the devastation – how will it ever be bearable – how will they ever move on – and the guilt swamped me and I knew that was selfish too but I hoped my soul would receive understanding so that I could move on and perhaps do something constructive for all of the voices calling out to loved ones who could no longer hear.

One Single Impression - passioante

Vincent Van Gogh’s severed ear
listens to the cry to arm
Holy Wars and unholy ones;
the warlock Charlie Sheen
with his winning tiger’s blood,
waking up in an unknown bed,
not waking up at all;
children without parents
doing their own thing, disconnect;
Freud’s ID lit up like a cigar
put out on a prisoner’s arm;
blowing up people for God
in the certainty of belief,
beyond all reason, come passion,
burning, all Hell’s broken loose
in the world of wanting, lust.

Thank-You, God!

As always, I have been putting something off until I had it perfect which is ridiculous.

My brother was in Tokyo when the earthquake hit. He got home safe and sound last night. Thank You, God!

There's always so much for which to be grateful, but this is definitely at the top of my list.

I have been busy with so many things. I am working on an actual first edit of my re-write of my 2006 NaNoWriMo novel which was called Happenstance (hideous, I know.) It is now called Married To Death.

The first thing I did was read what I wrote way back when and highlighting characters, places, time references and key descriptions. then I cut 11,944 words (it still hurts) which was a random story one of the characters told so I could chalk up numbers on my word count but really had nothing to do with the story.

I made a spreadsheet of all of the peoples, places and things including any references to them so I can find them all easily. Then, I did a timeline spreadsheet. I was pretty consistent in keeping seasons and things straight.

After all of this I floundered a bit trying to organize what I wanted to add and clarifying the plot and sub-plots.

Then, I found a really good website with lots of free information called How To Write A Book Now. You should check it out. Free. Short. Informative. Helpful.

Now I am trying to finish an actual first draft by March 31st.
