Break Time

~ click image to make biggerer ~

Work is kicking my ass. My word count for NaNo is sad. The edit on my novel needs attention as do the real live people and puppy in my life.

OK, I admit it: I am an internet addict. There I said it. Let the twelve steps begin. (It’s not December yet so don’t think of that song.)

Your excellent comments and your wonderful blogs are a distraction I can not control at the moment (does that qualify as a successful completion of step one?)

I will be back on December 1st (with the exception of my traditional Thanksgiving Day Turkey.) In December, I will celebrate my five year blogiversary which is actually on November 23rd.

In the meantime, I must take care of things in my non-cyber world. I will miss all of you but I must detox.

Flash 55 – Eat Your Vegetables

~ click to make the image biggerer ~

  During my annual health check-up,
my doctor said I looked pretty good but
I should eat more green vegetables.

I thought I was getting enough fiber but
he is the expert with a medical degree and all,
so I took his words to heart.
I would like you to meet my new hubby,
Mr. Da-Doo.

Thursday 13 - List of Lists

Here’s a list of 13 lists I found when looking for ideas to make up my own list.

These can be used for more than what their titles imply. All of them can jog a blog post topic out of your brain or help in your non-internets world.

None of them refer to that holiday in December whose name may not be spoken until Santa arrives in the Thanksgiving Day Parade.

  1. Journal Writing Ideas
  2. Ways to Simplify Your Life
  3. Bucket List Ideas
  4. Blog Post Topics
  5. Science Fair Projects
  6. List of Hobbies
  7. Kids' Crafts Links
  8. A List of Rewards
  9. Ways to Make Your Blog Sizzle
  10. Cheap Gifts for Your Sweetie
  11. Money Saving Ideas
  12. Fun Date Ideas

Picture This

November Dawn
[haiku]

dampened sound
fog invading the morning
invisible hand

Picture This

I ran out the door this morning
hair still wet from my shower
coat collar cold and clammy
left shoulder in a Notre Dame hunch
from purse, brief case, camera, lunchbox
I paused on the top stoop
afraid to step
broken bones in my imagination
aching joints in fact
looking for a proper footing
I saw the sugar frosted grass
freckles of white on the roof of my car
clouds reflected in the windshield
sloe and heavy with snow
compressing my perception
I took a deep breath

Echoes

The past speaks to me
at times when I least
expect it, when I least
want to hear it, when I am least
able to deal with it.
It has a power far
beyond its value, rattling round
the inside of my head, bouncing
from ear to ear and back again
until I wish I could dash my brains
out on the walls of a padded cell,
the white cushions absorbing
the blood sprays of memories
haunting me.

microfiction Monday – R and J, redux

Susan’s Picture:

My Story:

Roland and Jules knew it would never work.
They came from different
socio-economic backgrounds:
Roland's poncho - dazzling,
Jules' - dull.

Autumn Assoluta

~ click image to make biggerer ~

I glanced out of my kitchen window,
shadows and light playing tag
in my peripheral vision,
to see the leaves of my miniature, red maple
kissing the heat of sun.

It's Silly Time

* * * WARNING! WARNING! Naughty bits below. Do NOT look if you are easily offended. * * *

I said NOT

Oh, well, it was your choice.

A legal question . . .

Is  this statuetory rape?
Or is it just a moosedemeanor...

Stop laughing! This is serious.
(Received this week in an email)

Play Weekend Funnies and help spread the laughter.

Flash 55 - A Writer's Dilemma

~ click image to make biggerer ~

I do my best writing in the shower,
while I am driving in heavy traffic or
tossing clothes in the washer but
my mind doesn’t have an automatic save feature.
My secretary’s off duty,
I have no pen and paper and
the batteries in my recorder are dead
(my voice is annoying on the replay anyway.)

Write a story in 55 words.
