This is another image that will be part of the cover art for The Salt Lovers' Book of Magic. The Fool card will represent the character that is investigating the past lives of the main character. The card will change in each subsequent book. It will either be a Fool card from a new deck or a different Major Arcana card depending on how the character changes.
The Fool card is the beginning and the end. It represents infinite curiosity with all the world but with the warning to be aware of the cliff edge because you can fall if you spend all of your time looking up.
This is the Robin Wood tarot deck.
Nice intro to the eternal Fool archetype

DeleteYour book is sounding intriguing :)
ReplyDeleteI hope it ends up being so. :)
Deleteah now that is a cool element...and i like that it will change with each book....great identifier for the books...
ReplyDeleteI hope I can do justice to the vision in my head.
DeleteHey, Hay, Hey! Looking good. I like the cover very much. I also think the changing card used to show each new book is genius. Look out Suzanne Collins.
ReplyDeleteI like reading serieseseses. (How do you pluralize series?) I would love to be another Suzanne Collins, except of fantasy.
DeleteA lot of people dislike the Fool, but they don't understand the Fool. For me, this is one of the most refreshing cards I can pull. It means a new beginning, without all the crummy trauma of Death.
ReplyDeleteIn the Netherworld, the Fools/Jesters aren't simply costumed humans. They are more like mystics, though they come off as playful rather than serious as so many wizards do.
I am really looking forward to your Salt Lover's Book of Magick. I've started getting back some of my abilities to connect with the Universe but lack the playful (Foolish) spirit that one really needs.
We all need a bit of that childlike wonder that the Fool represents.

Good luck with the book.
