the dead record the last thing they see
on the light sensitive cornea of the eye
a last photograph of the life and times
an instant before the soul joins
that greater consciousness that sees all
each moment so precious to the one but
one mere frame in a never ending
reel of cosmic film

I don't mean to be morbid but I often wonder what the last thing was that my father saw before he died. He died alone, and this has always bothered me and my mother and brother.
ReplyDeletewasnt there a movie once where they could see that last scene? i rather like though that the movie rolls on neverending in each direction...
ReplyDeleteThis strikes a chord and leaves me wondering what the ones I loved and lost saw for the very last time...
ReplyDeleteOhhh, do you think that's true? That it's recorded on the cornea of the eye? Like, forever? What if you're alone, in the dark, or in the middle of a nightmare? Like...I'm drowning?
ReplyDeleteBeautifully morbid 55. I like it.
ReplyDeleteCertainly thought provoking. It does make one wonder. And even if it's recorded on the eye, will it be preserved with embalming or disappear as time continues on?
ReplyDeleteVanessa Allen Poe...
ReplyDeleteI have heard this urban legend.
I won't believe it until they use it in an episode of CSI or NCIS.
Great idea for a story though.
Loved your Retinal 55
Thanks for playing, thanks for being so eerie, and have a Kick ASS Week End....G
