Flash 55 - An Excuse

Peel, boil and mash ten pounds of potatoes; cook two quarts of turkey gravy; blow up twenty-four balloons and tie with curly ribbon; wrap multiple presents in princess pink; make the birthday card; vacuum and dust; play hostess, camera man and grandma - what do you get? Someone too tired to write a decent post.

Write a story in exactly 55 words.

  20. but not too tired to evoke within 55 words the color, sound, richness and complexity of a cultural phenomenon that gathers pace over time but risks becoming more and more diluted and/or loses direction in the process.
