Dreaming

I promised Quilldancer that I would post something before the day was over.

I’m having voracious dreams. I wake up totally exhausted because I have such adventures while I sleep. I fly, swordfight, make friends with dragons, do magic, change shapes and sizes. And everything is in bright colors and clear sounds. How am I going to get rest this away?

I have always been like this. I can’t take any form of sleeping pill. Bugs crawl under my skin and the dreams are even more outrageous. I don’t need to take acid to take a trip.

Part of the problem, of course, is that I really enjoy my dreams. I try to sleep extra to finish them, I direct them while in half conscious states, and I concentrate on having certain ones again.

Do you think there is a job out there where I could get paid just to dream?

  1. Nice... and if you do find such a job be sure to refer me too! :)

Or you could be the next J.K.Rowling!

  2. Vanessa Paid to Dream? now that would be a dream job.
If you find it make sure to include me in your dream. lol!

  3. Nessa -- perhaps you should stop reading children's books and start writing them. Bring your dreams into the light of day and leave the night for sleeping.

  4. Wierd. I have exactly the same types of dreams (flying, swordfighting, commanding my own priate ship, owning the Death Star, playing rhythm guitar for Oasis). I never feel exhausted from them though. I determined long ago that the boredom of everyday life would kill if it weren't for my dreams.

  5. I don't know if you get paid for it, but I think you should thank your Mom for whatever she took during your months of gestation. ;)

  6. Hey, we were just talking about this today! I have the exact same thing! I dream very vividly, always in color and with sound. The dreams are varied, often incorporating the tiniest detail from the previous day, something I hadn't even realized I'd noticed or experienced. I think part of it is that I wake up often. You're more likely to remember a dream you wake up from, for one, and for two, it means more R.E.M. sleep. Maybe that's what goes on with you, too? Isn't it great, though, whatever it is?

  7. I had that whole professional sleeper thing down for a year. Of course, I almost lost my real job. But it might work for you! :-)

  8. You could start by telling us your dreams

  9. Grey: I'll let you know. And could I please?

    Q: A dream job indeed.

Quilly: I think you are right. And you are welcome.

ptb: Yes, I daydream alot, too. Sometimes I zone out. Occasionally, people have noticed.

Guggs: That's funny. She told me she threw up during the whole 9 months. Do you think that could be it?

Caryn: I do love my dreams. Some people say they never do dream (or remember them.) I wouldn't want that, no matter how exhausted I am.

DCMM: I doubt it. I can't even take a day off without getting a guilt trip from my boss. Sleeping for a year at my desk would be crossing the line.

    freud: Where's the couch?

  10. Wow, I thought I was the only one. Goldie, I have always wanted to invent a Dream VCR. I guess it has to be Dream TIVO now. My dreams are so intense that I've woke up packing bags and crap, thinking I had to be leaving for some reason.

    Good stuff.

  11. A dream TIVO would be awesome. I often have a hard time determining if a memeory is really a memory or a dream. And thanks.

  13. So a Dream Job
Someone who likes the best and quite frankly IS the best
    Wants to be chauffered around

Definitely gotta write a book and become a famous author(ess) or become a hollywood agent(ess).
So Nessa - How about opening a 'model' agency. I'll be your personal chauffer

An agency only for smiling girls, with dancing eyes. Girls who want to dream, and bring good cheer, not burst bubbles or other's dreams with their dark dreams. I can only handle them clinically (not personally). Strictly doctor patient relationships.

  14. Q: I'd make a lowsy agent. I'm not much of a schmoozer and I don't think people should make a living based on their looks. Too transitory.

  15. Gosh Vanessa transitory
    Train journeys are transitory
    Plane journeys are transitory
    Thunderstorms are transitory
    Hot summer days are transitory
    Dancing & elation is transitory

I used to envy my father, now I envy him more, he still sees the inner light or real beauty that is my mother. Wanna dance?
So here is a transitory Ciao!

  16. Hey Ness, I think alternative worlds are the answer. This one has just gotten so damn old. Time to recycle.

PS: I agree with Quilly - you ever think of writing children's stories?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Jenn: That would be fun. That's why I like to sleep. My dreams are alternate worlds. Much more exciting than going to work each day.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Oh yes you could! I second Jenn's suggestion of writing childrens books!

  19. Grey: Thanks, I may bow to popular opinion.
