Top Ten Films They Should Have Made Blogfest

I loved Richard Harris  as Dumbledore. He looks exactly as he should.

I love Michael Gambon but he's a bit intense in the part. To me, Dumbledore is way more irreverent.

The person I would have liked best as Dumbledore would be Peter O'Toole à la High Spirits.

He has the right smile. Unfortunately, there are no pictures of him with a long beard.

Another Harry Potter character whose actor wasn't quite right was Sirus Black

I would go with either Christian Bale

Of course, I keep forgetting that harry potter is meant to be a children's story.

I don't like Tom Cruise. Never have.
[No link. No picture. He's lucky I said his name.]
I like him even less since he married his daughter.
(Come on. You know, Katie Homes looks like his daughter and
she is the right age to be his daughter.
Why do you think her eyes always look so vacant?)
So naturally, he ruined Interview with the Vampire for me.

Stuart Townsend (on the right) was perfect in the role as seen in Queen of the Damned.

Interview with the Vampire should be remade with him.

Other actors that can be replaced to drastically improve any movie they are in would be:
Kevin Costner, Julia Roberts and Richard Gere.

Go to
Ellie Garritt
to see people who probably did this the correct way.

  1. This looks like fun. I might have to try this out during daylight hours. I'm sooooo with you on the Julia Roberts one, except for the films where she dies before the end. I don't know why, but the movies where she dies I actually quite like her. And it doesn't have anything inherently to do with the fact that she dies. It's just a nice coincidence. (Actually, I think it's because I liked the movie long before I developed my dislike of her. lol

  3. This was a great post! And I agree with you on the Cruise business.;) I don't like him either, never did and that marriage is odd to say the least.;)

  5. Not a Tom Cruise fan, then? I like Robert Downey Junior. I enjoyed him in the Sherlock Holmes role.

Where do you find your quotes of the day? I always enjoy reading them.

  6. Nessa, I totally agree with you on the Harry Potter movies characters!
I also loved Richard Harris much more than the current Dumbledore...
And about the 3rd movie, I didn't like it much, felt too rushed.

For full disclosure, I generally dislike movies based on novels all that much.
And since the Harry Potter series was my favorite ever, I watched the movies and like them, but in my opinion they never captured the true magic of the books!

  8. I've never read any of the Harry Potter books or seen the movies, either. Having said that I love Peter O'Toole, so I'm going to agree with you.

I don't like Tom Cruise either, hence why I cast him as Frodo. As for his wife, I don't know how their marriage works, but being in a age-gap relationship I have to defend them. LOL.

Ooo...so agree with you on Richard Gere.

    Thank you for taking part!

  10. Another one of my favorite actors is Joaquin Phonix. Richard Harris was a great actor and singer.

I have to agree you with you about Tommy. Ugh!But you forgot to add Mel Gibson.

I must admit that I did not read the books. I veiwed one movie.

  11. Tom Cruise was Lestat. I didn't like him in the role until I read the second book, but he nailed it.

  15. Tom Cruise is creepy, but I'm not really a big Robert Downey Jr. fan either. I watched Sherlock Holmes a couple of weeks ago, and almost shut it off because I didn't like it.

Maybe it's just me. Thanks for stopping by, have a great day :)

  16. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who re-casts roles. Sometimes I really wonder what the people in charge of casting were thinking!

  19. When you love everyone equally, you love and appreciate and accept yourself fully, and then everyone else looks and feels the same...

  20. I get your argument against Cruise...I'll have to respectfully disagree...he's a true movie star.
