Gobble, Gobble, Gobble

This is my attack turkey, Charlie. He and I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving now because I know many of you will not be around tomorrow, you've got to do the family thing. I understand. Really I do. But listen, I am off on Friday, so I’ll be writing and playing and reading and just generally doing what I want to do, which does NOT include shopping. So, maybe I’ll see some of you then.

My list of things I am particularly thankful for this year:

My new house, with a dishwasher (the first I’ve ever had.)
Selling my old house and still getting my price despite the housing crash. Everyone who has stopped by here over the last year to read the things I have written. You have no idea how astounded this makes me. And most keep coming back. I am amazed. Thank you.
Those of you who have checked on me this month while I try to finish NaNoWriMo and all of your very encouraging words.
The fact that I am able to do the things I love.
And last but not least, I want to say a huge thank you that I still have all of my family with me and everyone is relatively happy and healthy.

Here is a Thanksgiving Day Limerick:

It is time for us to have us some turkey
Which I think is just barely better than jerky
I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving
At least we are all still living
I admit my love for limericks is quirky.

As far as the November Novel is concerned, I topped 35,000 words last night. I added a giant, a treasure and another 17,000 characters. I have also decided that since everyone has been so kind and curious, I will post my masterpiece on December 1st, 2006 as a blog so we can all have a good 'ole chuckle. Boy, isn’t that something to anticipate.

And this is how I feel right now:
PS. I did respond to all of you lovely people who commented on my last post.

  1. Too much sex and violence will make your tongue turn purple and and turn your hair blue?

    Happy Thanksgiving, Nessa!

and good call on the NO SHOPPING.
    I concur on that decision.

  2. Nessa, Happy Thanksgiving! Isn't it wonderful to have so much to be thankful for. (I like your attack turkey). BYW, great job with the writing. And I'll be waiting for December 1st post.

  3. I'm glad you blog. I'm thankful you blog well.

  4. I think we are truly blessed, Nessa.

I am glad I got to know you in the past year - fun, quirky, thoughtful, mad and incredibly empathetic.

  5. I love the artwork! Thanks for the great limerick too. You are awesome...and your, you rock!

  6. Happy Thanksgiving, Nessa. Charlie is perfect.

And I had no idea you were a limericist. That's the best title anyone can have.

  7. That's one crazy looking attack turkey, I hope he's tasty too! hehe

  8. Charlie scares the stuffing out of me! ;)

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  9. Hey, Nessa! Happy Thanksgiving. This year has brought me many joys and one of them was you!

Why is it your turkey and your tongue are the same color?

  10. Logo: Is that why I look this way? Maybe I should shop instead; D

Jackie: Yes, I am very blessed. I fear Dec 1st will be a day that lives in infamy.

BB: You are so sweet. Back at you.

Jenn: You are one of my greatest gifts. I thank the day I found you, too.

Cindra: Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Mr. Fab: I never tease. I always follow through on things I say, which has gotten me into many troublesome predicaments in the past; D

Doug: I love that title. I will add it at the end of my name.

Se7en: As Quilly figured out, he is.

    Dan: Good one.

Quilly: You caught me. You for me too… huh?

  11. Hope you have a Happy Thanks Giving Nessa it's not something we celebrate in the uk but it souns fun

looking forward to 1st of December!

  12. I am so gla dI came by. I love teh energy floating about here.
Happy Thanksgiving, you winged creature ;)

  13. Happy Thanksgiving Goldennib! The addition of the giant definately pushed you into the same league as David Lynch. Congratulations!

  14. Cool hand, Goldennib! I'd shake it, but I don't know where its been...

    Have a Very Happy Thanksgiving.

  15. Tina: It’s a nice break before the holidays get into full swing. Oh, no, I may have to forget …just kidding.

Minka: Sometimes I’m a little slow to get around. I look forward to more visits. And thanks for coming here.

CK: Wow, I may need to add more useless characters.

    Al: Where’s Rosie?

  16. Oh no! It looks like Charlie has taken off the rest of your arm! Unless your arm natural had attack claws at the base of your hands, in which case charlie was probably just a natural extension of your physical hand deformity.

Cute drawings, although I hope you're feeling a little better than your 2nd drawing would suggest.

  17. Hmmm ... I must not have woken up yet ... I have almost no idea what I was trying to say before. Replace the first 'natural' with 'naturally' and maybe it makes more sense.

    Gobble Gobble.

  18. Happy Thanksgiving Nessa! Congratulations on your amazing book feat, and I'll talk to 'ya Friday, because I'm off too! Love the attack turkey!

  19. Your attack turkey seduces me with his beauty...then he moves in for the kill with his sharp beak!

  20. Happy Turkey Day to you and Charlie the hand turkey!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  21. That's one very festive turkey, Goldennib. If your novel is half as good as your limerick, well... That's one very festive turkey!

  22. Charlie the Attack Turkey is quite the psychedelic/technicolor chap. I love it! Could you do an interpretation of a Grunt? Not an Army Grunt, either, a citizen of Gruntonia.

  23. I love Charlie the Attack I am with you, now shopping this year for me the day after Thanksgiving either. I am looking forward to your unveiling December 01. Very Fun! Hope you had a wonderful blessed Thanksgiving! :)

  24. Happy American Thanksgiving.

  25. Happy Thanksgiving Nessa to you and yours.

  26. I'm a little late, but Happy Thanksgiving Nessa. Thank you for always being so softly encouraging.

Keep writing. Sometimes it's all we is art that makes us free.

  27. Anita: Wanna see what’s up my sleeve?

    Kat: Thanks.

Phoenix: And you could cook him up for leftovers.

PC: Hum, dare I call you PC?

Diesel: At least I will always have the festive turkey, eh?

Grunty: I’ll think on it. Look for a grunt from Gruntonia in the future.

Pamela: I laugh at 1 AM shoppers. Ha, ha, ha!

    Guggs: Thanks.

    Bazza: Thank you.

PTB: “…it is art that makes us free.” I am finding this to be so very true for me, too. Thank you.

  28. I am looking forward to your December 1 posting. I hope the holiday is going well.

  29. happy thanksgiving, whatever that is ;)

[i know what it is, we just dont have it over here, we prefer to celebrate sane ppl trying to blow up the insane government many years ago instead ;) ]

    wordveri : TAXSMOAH ??? ^^

  31. Hi Nessa, hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. I do love Charlie and all your artwork here. Really great. Congrats on the NanWriMo - nicely done. I'll be checking back to see.

    Enjoy your weekend.

  32. Just stopping by for the first time in days to wish you a continued happy holiday...blogging has dropped to the bottom of my list for a while. I love your turkey and the limerick. If I wasn't so tired, would try to be creative with one of my own...
There once was a turkey from Jersey...who...

  33. Hi Nessa,
I hope the week-end finds you well. we are doing a lot better here, but tom is quite phlegmfilled and it's gross. he boards a plane on tuesday, so i hope he is well by then. be prepared for me to meltdown at some point while he's gone.

Great job on your novel writing!

  34. Happy Belated Turkey Day, Nessa!

I LOVE your attack turkey, Charlie, and I'm grateful for you and your blog. :)

  35. Good job on your writing! I like your attack turkey too, too funny lol.

  36. Goldennib, I believe your comment to Al was the first Rosie joke I've ever seen on a blog. Well done!

  37. CECCG: Fireworks are good; D Hey, did you get my comment on your non-deviant site. I was wondering if I could get a print of your angel for my home office. Do you have a way where I could buy a copy? And I’ve been meaning to tell everyone, hey everyone you should go see CECCG’s art work. It’s amazing. I just haven’t figured out how to use the deviant site yet.

G: Thanks. I spent too much time messing about (reading) now I’m behind so I must get cracking.

Swampwitch: That’s a great opening limerick line, but are you calling me a turkey?

Cindra: I understand. I always hated it when my husband went away for work. It sucks. Email if you want or need.

    Sar: Thanks. Me too you.

Jamie: Thanks. Come back and see the silliness I produce.

Doug: I know I was toying with Her Holiness but she was being just a tad ridiculous.

  38. Oops, how could I miss the good Dr. John.

Holidays were too good, now I'm behind. See you then.
