Well Met

Yesterday, I had coffee with Mo’a at Starbucks. She is the first internet person I have ever met in real life. We talked for two hours, a record for me, as I am shy of strangers (no, really.) Mo’a fascinated me to no end; she told me about her travels, her family, her life. She has the most beautiful skin and clear, sparkling eyes. We found we have many things in common: our cars have standard transmissions, we hate to spend money on gas, we make sure we watch Midsommer Murders every Sunday night, we both have only one child and we love variety. I hope we can have many other get togethers.

In other news: My only brother turned 45 on February 1st. We will be celebrating his birthday at his house before the Super Bowl. This is a sad time for him because his favorite football team, The Philadelphia Eagles, did not make it again this year. To make his birthday special and show him how much I care, I drew him a card.

  1. My favourite team the Patriots didn't make it either, damn close though. I also like Midsommer Murders.

  2. Bazza: I always thought I'd like to live in a small English village, in a cottage with a thatched roof, but I don't like my neighbors knowing my business, so maybe not.

  3. What fun for you and Mo'a. I'm not sure I'm that brave. I'd probably make friends with that 79 year old pervert who's on the internet pretending to be a sweet, young woman! Glad you had fun. And the card you made is great - happy birthday to your brother!

  4. I'm gl;ad you and Mo'a got to meet. It somehow makes everyone seem more real once you know someone actually saw them!

  5. My team - the Ravens (but I'm a fairweather fan) - didn't make it either. Also? Fuck the Colts.

  7. Beautiful card, Nibby. Very powerful and very elegant. I envy him his sister's love. I have a sis who just turned 45. And a few days after her birthday this November 15th, she delivered her fourth child! We were all pretty shocked when she announced THAT surprise. None more than she when she found out, though. I am so happy you have a wonderful sib.

  11. didn't watch the Super Bowl, didn't care. we were Patriot fans for the 3 years we lived in Boston, but could never "feel" the love for the Eagles when we lived in Philly. besides, my husband is a die-hard Rams fan, so rooting for other teams has always felt like "cheating".

as for your little get-together with the divine Mo'a? jealous doesn't begin to describe what i'm feeling right now! aieee! lucky YOU and lucky Mo'a! hey, maybe you'll be able to show your happy face again, when Gina and i come out there to see Mo'a, eh? THAT would be swee-e-e-et! (it might also help me get over the overwhelming sense of jealousy i'm experiencing at the moment!) xox

  12. Jackie: My husband always thinks I’m going to run across a mass murderer. I did have lots of fun. And thanks.

Quilly: It’s amazing how much I feel like I REALLY know people from what they write. Meeting just made it more special.

    Mal: I’m sorry.

Logo: Thanks. Yes, a great gift.

Gawpo: Wow. I’m just getting my life back (my daughter is 20.) I just couldn’t imagine starting again.

Gawpo: Well, if you go around ejaculating what can you expect.

Gawpo: Now we all know Gentlemen’s Club’s are not good for you.

Mal: You did, but I understand.

    Anita: Thank you.

Neva: I would love to meet when you all do. And I understand your jealousy. Mo’a was great.

  14. That's great that you met Mo and broke your internet "cherry". Of course, you know that I did that just a bit over a week ago myself meeting Outdoorsy Girl.

I am the same way around strangers, Nessa.

  16. I just met my first blogger that was not family. I look froward to meeting her again. Its like belonging to a secret society and only we know the secret password.

  17. *blush* and on top of that, I am making a grand entrance here.
Nessa, thank you for you lovely words....I was going to describe you the same way and there you go and steal my thunder :)
People, Nessa is great....ofcourse you knew that already.....she has a wonderful sense of humor and shy...I don't think so, at least not with me.
I had a wonderful time it was so nice to meet Nessa, we do have a lot in common, and it was so easy to talk to her, I felt comfortable right away.
I look forward to another meeting :)
Neva, Gina, Al, who else is coming?
And then in May I will meet Minka and Biene....Wow!!!

  19. it must be great to meet a blogger face to face!
But then again it may take away some of the intrigue people may not be what you think they are!!

  20. I'm shy, but it manifests into this crazy woman who can't stop talking when she meets strangers. Ask -r- and her hubby... their ears probably bled after meeting me. ;-)

Glad you had such a great experience!

  21. Nice card. I've met one other blogger as well, and it was a great experience.

  22. LOL! Great card. Although not being a sports fan, I don't fully appreciate the emotional travails of following a losing team.

  23. Happy birthday to your bro!

  24. How excellent is that?! So nice to hear you and Mo'a got together. You sound like a perfect little coffee clatch/clutch (nod to your driving a standard). I too would love a gathering including you when we get to meet Mo'a (Neva and I have been planning this journey in our head every other week:). It is wonderful fun to meet fellow bloggers. I have met Neva and Al and I can't say enough without writing a post right here.

Oh and great card for your brother.

  25. I met someone whom I thought was going to be the love of my life. And indeed, that weekend at the Sandzibar Motel in Yuma, AZ was more than any man can realistically expect for $39.95 a night. But the magic wore off late Sunday. Had I used my real name, I might have lived to regret it. As it was, having to change my screenname, HonorHound, was bad enough...

This was back before I got married, back in the late 70s, just after Al Gore had invented the internet.
